Terms of Service
Version 2.1.1 · Last updated 9 September 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of kyn brain, the knowledge workspace for video and podcasts (the “Service”), operated by Stacktiger (“we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Service is currently offered in early access and may change as we develop it.
1. Definitions
- “Account” is the account you create to use the Service.
- “Content” is anything you add, upload, or create in the Service, including video and podcast links, notes, highlights, collections, and worksheets.
- “Source Material” is the third-party video or audio (for example a YouTube video or a podcast episode) you point the Service at.
- “AI Output” is content the Service drafts for you automatically, marked in the product with the kyn drafted label.
2. Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. You are responsible for the activity under your Account and for keeping your sign-in method secure. Tell us promptly at support@withkyn.com if you believe your Account has been compromised.
We currently offer sign-in through Google. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service to break the law or infringe anyone’s rights, including intellectual property and privacy rights;
- process Source Material you do not have the right to access, or use the Service in a way that violates a third-party platform’s terms;
- attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, scrape, or gain unauthorised access to the Service or its systems;
- resell or redistribute the Service, or use it to build a competing product;
- upload malware, or content that is unlawful, harmful, or abusive.
4. Your content and ownership
You own your Content. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, process, and display your Content only as needed to operate and improve the Service for you. This licence ends when you delete the Content or close your Account, except for backups kept for a limited period and anything we must retain by law.
We own the Service itself, including its software, design, and brand. These Terms do not grant you any rights in our intellectual property beyond using the Service as intended.
5. Source material and third parties
The Service works with third-party Source Material. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to access and process any Source Material you use. We are not affiliated with, and do not control, YouTube, podcast hosts, or other third-party platforms, and their own terms apply to your use of their content.
6. AI-generated output
The Service uses automated systems, including third-party AI models, to draft notes and takeaways from Source Material. AI Output can be incomplete or inaccurate and is provided for your convenience only. It is not professional advice (including medical, legal, or financial advice). Review AI Output before relying on it. You are responsible for how you use it.
7. Plans, billing, and refunds
The Service offers a free tier and optional paid subscriptions and one-off boosts. The billing terms in this section take effect for you when you first subscribe to a paid plan or buy a boost. Until then, the Service is free to use.
Prices and currency. Prices are shown in pounds sterling (GBP, £) at checkout. Any VAT that applies for UK and EU customers is calculated and collected by our payment processor (Stripe) and shown to you before you pay.
Subscriptions and auto-renewal. Paid plans are billed in advance for the billing period you choose, either monthly or annually. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price for your plan, unless you cancel before the renewal date. We will make the price and billing period clear before you subscribe.
Cancellation. You can cancel at any time from your account settings or the customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period: you keep paid access until then, and we will not charge you again. Unless stated otherwise or required by law, fees already paid are non-refundable for the period already started.
Plan limits and upgrades. Each paid plan includes a monthly capture allowance and a maximum video length. If you reach your plan's capture allowance, or add a video longer than your plan allows, we will prompt you to upgrade or to buy a boost. We will not stop work that is already in progress.
Boosts. Boosts are one-off purchases of extra capture credits or feature unlocks that add to your plan. Boost credits do not expire, but boost purchases are non-refundable once bought, except where the law requires otherwise.
Founding members. If you subscribe as a founding member, the founding-member price is locked for the life of that subscription: it will not increase for as long as the subscription stays active and in good standing. If you cancel the founding-member subscription, the locked price no longer applies to any new subscription.
Payments are handled by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number; Stripe processes payments and holds your payment method on our behalf.
8. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the Service and close your Account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we reasonably need to protect the Service or other users. Where practical and lawful, we will give you notice. On termination, your right to use the Service ends and we will delete or anonymise your Content in line with our Privacy Policy.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties not expressly stated in these Terms, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI Output will be accurate.
10. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud). Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profits, data, or goodwill, and our total liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or GBP 100.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against reasonable losses and costs arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service, including any Source Material you were not entitled to process.
12. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may change the Service as it develops. We may also update these Terms; when we make a material change we will update the version and the last-updated date below and, where appropriate, notify you. For significant changes we may ask you to accept the updated Terms before continuing. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory local consumer law gives you other rights.
