Export your data or delete your account

Updated 9 September 2026

You can delete your account and everything in it yourself, immediately, from Settings. If you want a copy of your data first, ask before you delete: deletion cannot be undone, and there is nothing left to export afterwards.

Get a copy of your data

Email our privacy mailbox from the address on your account and ask for an export; the contact page has the address, with the subject line prefilled. We provide your data in a portable format and respond within one calendar month, usually much sooner. The same mailbox handles any other data right: correction, restriction, objection.

Delete your account

  1. Open Settings and find Delete your account.
  2. Choose Delete account, then type delete to confirm.
  3. Choose Permanently delete my account.

Deletion is immediate and permanent. It removes your captures, notes, collections, circle connections, share links, and any YouTube connection. If you have an active subscription, it is cancelled first, so nothing keeps charging a deleted account.

What survives deletion, and why

A small number of records are kept because the law or your own choices require it:

  • Billing and transaction records held with our payment provider are retained for tax and accounting purposes.
  • The email suppression list keeps just your address and the reason, so an opt-out you made keeps being honoured.
  • Backups age out and are overwritten on a fixed cycle rather than edited in place.

The detail lives in the Privacy Policy.

Where your content never goes

Your note content, transcripts, and video URLs are not sent into analytics, not used to train AI models, and never sold. Drops share only the clip and the note you chose to send.
